It has been a happy day indeed!
We woke up to the sounds of the kids discovering their baskets of Easter goodness...chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, movies, and kites... and laid in bed listening to them laugh and excitedly share with each other what they found. And listening to them fret over the Easter Bunny possibly being "mad" at them because they searched the house and couldnt find a single hidden egg. (The eggs were hidden in the backyard for an outdoor hunt later in the day!)
We all enjoyed breakfast casserole and then started the dreaded task of cleaning bedrooms and the toy room before Grandpa and Grandma came over for the afternoon.
The kids got a limited amount of candy in their basket and in the eggs hidden in the yard (half of the eggs held puzzle pieces for the kids to put together tonight) so we have let them eat it, I mean devour it, to their liking. I figure 1 day of a spazzed out sugar high is better than an entire week of it, so why not???
They LOVED playing outside in their new outfits from Great Grandma, which will be remembered for days, or at least until the Tinkerbell kite falls from the tree :)
Now Grandpa and Grandma have gone home, the kitchen has been cleaned, and I am ready for bed (and no, it is not even 7 pm yet!... this Easter Bunny stuff is exhausting!)
But mostly we are thankful today... thankful for each other, for loving family, good friends, food in our stomachs and shelter over our heads.
Happy, thankful, loving, forgiven, and so blessed... What a beautiful day!
